NTPC declared the permanent shutdown of its 440-MW Stage-I Tanda thermal project in Uttar Pradesh, effective September 1, 2025. This decision, approved by the competent authority and communicated to the Central Electricity Authority, reduces the NTPC group’s total installed and commercial capacity to 82,926 MW. The closure involves four units, each with a capacity of 110 MW.
